If you want to take a break from skiing on a lovely winter’s day, we recommend hiking through the snow-covered valley. The glittering snowy landscape is soothing for body, mind and soul. With 70 km of groomed trails on offer, cross-country skiing is also a highly popular activity. And if you feel like some proper action, why not try tobogganing on one of the safe, groomed natural toboggan runs?

Around Kaltenbach, you will find plenty of ice-rinks with both natural
and artificial ice. This activity with a difference offers guaranteed fun
for young and old alike!
Kaltenbach ice-rink is situated near Hotel Gasthof Post.
Ice-skates are available for hire.

Guided tours are offered to some of the most beautiful spots in the valley. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a deer or mountain hare and spot their tracks in the snow! |

Tobogganing is probably the most sociable sport around! No holiday in the Zillertal would be complete without a fun day’s tobogganing followed by a meal at a mountain hut. A unique experience: romantic night-time tobogganing under starry skies. 6 toboggan runs (3 of which are floodlit) offer fun and plenty of variety.
Gerlosstein-Hainzenberg toboggan run
7 km long, this toboggan run is the longest in the Zillertal.
You can hire toboggans right by the base station.
The toboggan runs are open from Monday to Sunday.
Evening tobogganing is available on
Monday to Saturday from 7.45 pm to 9.15 pm.

Cross-country skiers have plenty of beautiful trails to choose from.
An extensive network – 70 kilometres – of well-groomed trails can be found between the villages in the valley, surrounded by fascinating mountain scenery.
