Away from the perfectly groomed slopes and wonderfully long cross country tracks, our guests enjoy the winter landscape of the Zillertal: on winter and snow shoe walks through the Zillertal, escape from the daily grind!
If you want to take a break from skiing, that’s not a problem, the choice of winter activities in the Zillertal is endless. Walk along the Ziller-promenade – passing directly by the Hotel Post – as far as Ried, Uderns or Zell. The Ziller-promenade is kept clear throughout the whole winter, making it possible to walk with a pushchair. There are plenty of park benches for short breaks in the sun along the route.
True happiness is found on horseback. This applies equally to a horse and carriage ride through the snow! Take a romantic ride through the snowy valley and let yourself be led by the horses through a magical world. Wrap yourself in warm blankets and discover the winter landscape of the Zilltertal, whether during the day or in the evening. Horse and carriage rides are naturally also available in summer.
You will find several ice rinks around Kaltenbach, both natural and prepared as a great alternative activity option – fun for both young and old is guaranteed! Within easy reach of the hotel Post is the ice rink Kaltenbach. Ice skates are available for hire. In Zell am Ziller, at the Freizeit Park there is an ice skating rink open daily from 2 pm to 5 pm and from 7.30 pm to 10 pm. Ice skates are also available for hire.
Guided snow shoe walks are available from the Aktiv Zentrum Zillertal. You will receive the snow shoes on site and a certified guide will accompany you on the tour through untouched snow covered slopes. Experience the breath taking views over the peaks of the Zillertal Alps and enjoy the pleasant temperatures.
If you want to work on you fitness, then a ski tour is perfect for you! You can either take a tour through the deep snow or on well prepared slopes. Touring skis can be hired from the hire shop Rent & Go. If you would prefer to take part in a guided tour then we recommend the Aktiv Zentrum Zillertal. You will not only receive excellent tour recommendations, but tips and tricks for improving your technique.
Not only in bad weather, is the Freizeit Park in kaltenbach well worth a visit. On two levels, three fully automatic bowling alleys on approx. 300 m² with seating, a squash hall with parquet floor and LED lighting as well as Tyrol’s largest Airparc with trampolines awaits you at KABOOM. In addition, a climbing hall with 200 m² of climbing space at a height of four meters awaits your visit. The KABOOM is located only five minutes away from the Hotel Post – a real highlight for children and adults!
