Kaltenbach is the start of a variety of hiking tours that lead through all of Zillertal. The hiking paths on the Ziller offer leisurely hikes with many diverse sights. The 60 km long route leads along the river and is very flat. For the journey back, you can take the Zillertalbahn and several buses are available.
The Hochzillertal Trail, which leads to the waterfall of the Kaltenbach and to Ried, is a somewhat sportier option. The 9 km long cross-country trail does not require special hiking equipment but physical fitness is a must.
The via ferrata on the Gerlossteinwand at an elevation of over 2000 m is one of the alpine tours. Beforehand, you can practice in the Kaltenbach high ropes garden.
