We have succeeded in making the Hotel Post in Kaltenbach into a refuge of good taste. Quality instead of quantity is of upmost importance to us and to spoil our guests with numerous inclusive services.
To share the history of our hotel, we have to look into the past. As the roots of the genuine hospitality of the hotel owned by the Höllwarth family date back over two hundred years.
At the end of the 18th century, our hotel was first mentioned as the guest house Standl. The inn, which was attached to a farm had the name “Kalberer”. Guests were served food and drinks. As the post office route expanded, the guest house Standl became the guest house Post. The stagecoaches brought the first guests to Kaltenbach. The post office which was run by the owner’s family at the time, was located directly in the guest house Post.
By 1941 Maria and Hermann Höllwarth had taken over the business. During the Second World War the barn was destroyed by a bomb, but the house remained undamaged. With the increase in tourists in the Zillertal, in 1969 the original guest house Post was knocked down and in 1972 it re-opened as a hotel with 30 beds. Through several extensions and refurbishments the business was increased to 150 beds and the latest standard of a 4 star hotel.
The last big refurbishment was in 2013. That is when the large Post spa oasis, with 1 000 square metres and several other renovations, such as the modern dining room with a generous stone buffet, our in-house laundry and a kitchen extension which we are still profiting from today.
The Hotel Post is situated on the Zillertal promenade close to the village centre of Kaltenbach. Perfect connections and opposite the station of the Zillertal railway.
